Best Job in the World - Ben Southall
About this group
East Hampshire resident Ben Southall is heading off to look after a tropical Australian island in a week after beating 35,000 applicants to win what has been dubbed the ‘Best Job in the World'.
The 34-year-old landed the six-month dream assignment, with a salary of £73,400, after spending four days on the island undergoing ‘tests' which included snorkelling in crystal clear waters, wandering along beautiful beaches and relaxing at a spa.
Ben, who has been working as a charity worker up until now, scored the job after beating candidates from across the world.
His ‘work' will include swimming, exploring Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef and writing a blog to promote the area.
The job is part of an £800,000 tourism campaign to publicise the charms of north-eastern Queensland.
Ben starts work on July 1.
