Charges made for RAPP as lottery funding expires

Wednesday 17th of March 2010

The Easter Holidays are approaching and the Rural Area Play Project (RAPP) team is preparing its programme of activities to keep the kids entertained.

The scheme has been free thanks to lottery funding, but now that funding has expired and a charge must be made to sustain the service.

RAPP provides a mobile, school holiday service for children in East Hampshire's rural areas that may not otherwise have access to playschemes.

The Lottery agreed to fund the scheme for two years, giving parents access to this fantastic service for free.

That funding agreement has now finished and so a charge of £3 per child must now be made to keep the service running in a sustainable way.

The RAPP van carries high quality, durable toys and equipment and provides indoor and outdoor activities aimed at children aged 4-12 years old, including arts and crafts and sports.

Children aged 0-4 will still be able to come along for free while Get Activ8'd, a scheme run for older children, will also remain a free service.

Parents will be able to book online from Monday 22 March for Easter's itinerary, which looks as exciting as ever.

During the holidays, from April 6-16, children can enjoy an out-of-this-world adventure in Bordon with a space themed craft morning or make a giant pirate ship in Liphook.
