Tuesday 22nd October 2013

EHDC logoKeep your eyes peeled for the town bus’s new look which was designed by local schoolchildren.

The popular town-wide bus has been spruced up with a theme of urban and rural designed by Patricia Parratt, from Bordon Junior School. Second prize winner Dylan Appleby, aged 11 from Weyford Junior School, came up with the cleverly-thought-out slogan, “Next time you see me hop on” which will also feature on the sides of the bus.

The popular new bus has had more than 1,000 passengers since it launched in May, which was funded by the Whitehill & Bordon regeneration project.

The much-needed new bus service offers residents three new routes to get around the town and to the nearby villages (including Blackmoor, Greatham, Lindford and Standford).

Cllr David Parkinson, East Hampshire District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: “These designs are fantastic, the bus looks even better. Thanks very much to Patricia and Dylan. I hope residents enjoying seeing the bus’s new look.”

Local County and District Councillor, Adam Carew, said: ” It is wonderful that the new town bus have been given this makeover! We fought hard for this bus and with its eye catching design we hope even more people will use it.”

Patricia Parratt, aged 11, said: “It was great fun designing something for the bus and its really nice seeing my picture on the way to school.”
