News buttonWe are interested in any news story that affects East Hampshire or has a strong connection to our district.

All news stories are either written or edited by our journalists to ensure a consistent quality of writing and style.

How to find news

You will find the latest news on our news home page.

You can also find specific news for each town or village on their page (for example, news about Alton on the Alton page). Search for news and events by town or village by choosing the town or village from the drop down list in the ‘News and events by location’ box on the top right of the page.

News about groups can be found on their pages, for example the latest news for Butserfest on the Butserfest group page.

You can also use a keyword search in the search box on the top right hand side of page, and narrow it down to events (see Search help for more).

Submitting a news story

Anyone can submit a news story for our journalists to consider. Simply go to the news homepage and click on ‘Submit a news story’ in the ‘I want to’ box on the right hand side.

  • title
  • story
  • your name and contact details (in case we have any queries)

As well as on the events homepage, you will find the link to add events across many other areas of the site in the ‘I want to’ box.

It contains many common tasks, including

  • Submit a news story
  • Tell us about your event
  • Add a review
  • Report a problem
  • Go to your profile

What kind of stories

easthampshire.org is a community website, so you are welcome to add any news the community may be interested in.

However we reserve the right to refuse or delete events with unsuitable or offensive content.

Because this is a website for East Hampshire, the story should be either based in East Hampshire, about someone from East Hampshire, or of signficant interest specifically to people in East Hampshire.

The easthampshire.org team reserves the right to have the final say about what should be included on the site.
